On Monday, Dec. 20, Kolter Homes held its first annual Holiday Decorating Contest at two of its communities: Paloma, in Palm Beach Gardens; and The Oaks, in Hobe Sound.

The holiday decorating extravaganza was announced in early December, allowing residents to prepare for the community event.

From candy-cane-lined sidewalks to homes glowing with holiday lights – the first-time event was a success for both communities.

Marc Friedman, of Kolter Homes, was pleased with the turnout. “It was wonderful to see all of the residents that night.

The warmth of these communities really shined through as residents awaited the judges’ decisions.”

The spirit of a close-knit community is one the Kolter Homes’ most prized traits throughout its neighborhoods.

Winners were announced Tuesday, Dec. 21, on Kolter Homes’ Facebook page.

First-, second- and third-place winners were chosen at each community, with first-place winners taking home a new iPad.

Second- and third-place recipients received an array of gift certificates.

Winners of The Oaks’ Holiday Decorating Contest were: Clemmons Kuhlig (first place), Elaine and Larry Yundt (second place) and Dennis Wrobble (third place).

Winners of Paloma’s contest were: Jeffrey Gschwind (first place), Jennifer Barron (second place) and Ricardo Cordoba (third place).

Homes were selected based on a pre-determined list of criteria and chosen by third-party judges from the community.

Models are open daily to tour.

The Oaks’ sales center is at the Tres Belle Estates community in Martin County. Take Interstate 95 to Kanner Highway (State Road 76), Exit 101.

Buyers who intend to use the place as a second home will pay the same rate as they would pay for a primary residence. If they intend to rent the property out until they retire and they need the rental income to qualify for the mortgage, lenders will consider that an investment property and charge a half to a full percentage point more.
