92nd PGA CHAMPIONSHIP EXHIBIT IS UNVEILED AT THE PGA HISTORICAL CENTER

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – The 92nd PGA Championship will be showcased at the PGA Historical Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla., via a new exhibit of iconic photography that debuts Thursday, July 29. The featured display will trace the storied history of the PGA Championship – “The Season’s Final Major…Glory’s Last Shot” beginning with the inaugural event at Siwanoy Golf Club in Bronxville, N.Y., and won by “Long” Jim Barnes in 1916.

The PGA Championship was first staged at the suggestion of department store magnate Rodman Wanamaker, who provided the legendary trophy that bears his name. Many of golf’s most legendary names have captured the event and are featured in historic photos on the display, including Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Defending Champion
Y.E. Yang, Barnes, Jock Hutchison and Vijay Singh, who won the last PGA Championship held at Whistling Straits, in Kohler, Wis. – the site of this year’s event.

The display also recounts the tale of the stunning 2009 PGA Championship, won by Yang, the first Asian-born male to capture a major Championship in golf. Yang shocked the world, as he held off Woods on the final day in dramatic fashion and carried off the Wanamaker Trophy to glory at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn. “The PGA Historical Center golf museum is proud to provide our visitors new, dynamic exhibits that elegantly capture the passion of golf and the nearly 95-year history of The PGA of America,” said PGA President Jim Remy.

Recent special exhibits at the PGA Historical Center have included tributes to the Senior PGA Championship, PGA Grand Slam of Golf, African-American Pioneers, PGA Honorary Members and Arnold Palmer. Upcoming displays scheduled for this year will also pay homage to Patriot Golf Day, the Ryder Cup, PGA Professional National Championship and PGA Cup. Additional attractions include the Ryder Cup Trophy, the four major Championship trophies of golf, the oldest known written mention of golf from the Articles of Parliament in the 1500s, Hagen’s original birth certificate, and the actual workbench used by legendary course architect Donald Ross.

The PGA Historical Center is located in PGA Village, which is ranked among the “75 Best Golf Resorts” by
Golf Digest, and also encompasses the PGA Golf Club’s 54 holes of Championship golf by Tom Fazio and Pete Dye; and the adjacent PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance, a state-of-the-art, 35-acre golf learning, instruction, fitness and technology facility. Admission to the PGA Historical Center is free and open to the public. Museum hours are Thursdays-Sundays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. through Christmas Eve; and daily from Dec. 26-Easter. Researchers may access the facility during off-hours by appointment. Visit www.pgavillage.com/stlucie or call 800-800-GOLF (4653) for details.

First and Second Round coverage of the 2010 PGA Championship will be televised Aug. 12-13 on TNT from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. EDT, and on CBS from 12:37 a.m.-1:07 a.m. EDT. Third and Fourth Round coverage will be broadcast Aug. 14-15 on TNT from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. EDT, and on CBS from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. EDT.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The 71st Senior PGA Championship is being celebrated at the PGA Historical Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla., with a new exhibit that debuts today.

The featured display will trace the storied history of the Senior PGA Championship, the oldest major Championship in senior golf, which was first contested at Augusta (Ga.) National Golf Club, and won by Jock Hutchison in 1937. The event was staged at the request of legendary amateur Bobby Jones just three years after the inaugural Masters Tournament. Over the years, many of golf’s greatest names have captured the Senior PGA Championship, including Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, Gary Player, Sam Snead, Lee Trevino, Raymond Floyd and Hale Irwin.

The exhibit will also tell the tale of 2009 Senior PGA Champion Michael Allen, who erased a 334-event winless streak for a two-shot victory over Larry Mize to capture the most prestigious event in senior golf at Canterbury Golf Club near Cleveland. Items showcased from Allen’s victory include his shirt, visor, sand wedge and official scorecard.

The 2010 Senior PGA Championship will be held at Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colo., May 25-30.

Recent special exhibits at the PGA Historical Center have included tributes to the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, African-American Pioneers, PGA Honorary Members and Palmer. Upcoming displays scheduled for this year will also pay homage to the PGA Championship, Ryder Cup, PGA Professional National Championship and PGA Cup. “The PGA Historical Center golf museum is dedicated to providing our visitors with new and engaging exhibits that capture imaginations through the essence of golf and the proud 94-year history of The PGA of America,” said PGA President Jim Remy.

Additional attractions include the Ryder Cup Trophy, the four major Championship trophies of golf and the actual workbench used by legendary course architect Donald Ross. The PGA Historical Center is located in PGA Village, which is ranked among the “75 Best Golf Resorts” by Golf Digest, and also encompasses the PGA Golf Club’s 54 holes of Championship golf by Tom Fazio and Pete Dye; and the adjacent PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance, a state-of-the-art, 35-acre golf learning, instruction, fitness and technology facility.
Admission to the PGA Historical Center is free and open to the public. Museum hours are Thursdays-Sundays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. through Christmas Eve; and daily from Dec. 26-Easter. Researchers may access the facility during off-hours by appointment.

My mom, as many people will say, is truly the BEST in not just the mother category but in the friend category. Many mothers try not to be a friend of their daughter or son, but i think my mom being one of my best friends, who i can talk to about virtually anything in the world has helped me be the person i am today. I look up to my mom in numerous ways and for guidance in life. She is extremely hardworking, and self sufficient. My mom has taught me to be the best that I can be and aim for nothing less then spectacular. I hope I can learn from her, how to achieve everything i want to be in life, and all the things that she can do on her one without help from someone else.

My momma is not just my mother but truly is one of my closest friends. A lot of girls in their teenage years say how much they hate their mothers, and some times i may act like i really do hate my mom but i know deep down i love her unconditionally, and i really don’t hater her. and that i will grow out of this stage and my mom and i will become even closer, and i will look for her for advice on everything…… including clothes. My mom has to be a very forgiving person to live with me, and some days i do make poor decisions and will stay out late, and lie to her about what I’m doing or who I’m with but at the end of the day i know she is there for me no matter what happens. I am certainly not perfect and neither is she… but hey! were human, no one is .

My mom is an amazing cook, and that is one thing i look forward to learning from her in the future, how to make her amazing meat balls, and hot fudge. When i leave college i know i will miss that so much, especially since my sandwiches for school are always so much better when they have the mother’s magic touch on them. My mom is inspirational to me and her friends, she has been through a lot in her life. My mom lost her mom when she wanted her the most, and I truly believe she deserves the world, and everything it has to offer.

My mom and I may have our up and down moments, but at the end of the day we can sit on the couch together and talk and laugh about our lives and everything that makes us up smile or laugh, or whether or not we had a large air head moment during the day. I love my mom so much she truly is an amazing woman. If I could only have one thing to learn from her, it would definitely be how to be an amazing mom and woman just like her. Oh yeah this amazing mother’s name is Jennifer Veit. I love you! – Allie

The mother in my life is my wife for no other reason than that for which I became attracted to her. For us both it was the second go at it. My not having children and she having two at 9 years and 11 proved to be a challenge.
A challenge for me until I witnessed the selfless dedication and love which my future wife showered her children with. It became a no brainer, any woman who would work all day, come home at night to cook (and I mean no TV dinner), clean do laundry, keep smiling, and look great too, was indeed a special woman. I never heard her complain. Then I thought of my mother whom heaven and earth will come together for, and I realized either all mothers are the same or I have someone special again. We have been together thirty three years and my only wish is to be reincarnated as one of her grandchildren. My wife indeed is a mother to the highest degree.

Reposted from: BIG BUILDER News
By Teresa Burney

As Kolter Land Partners inked the deal to buy its first Raleigh, N.C., project April 20, it already had a deal in place to resell it to a start-up builder. In fact, it was the start-up builder, WinStar Homes, that brought the deal to Kolter, hoping it could provide the up-front capital for the purchase of the remaining 264 lots in Brightwood Trails, a Durham, N.C., development that stalled when the original owner St. Lawrence Homes filed for bankruptcy court protection. WinStar had the land under contract for the past six months. “These are just the kind of deals we want,” said Jim Harvey, president of Kolter Land Partners. Harvey added that WinStar and Kolter opened their books to determine how they could do the deal and make sure each made a decent profit. “It’s a good little marriage,” Harvey said of the deal. Kolter paid $4.5 million for the 264 remaining lots, of which 66 are fully developed, 72 are partially developed and need only roads, and 126 are raw. St. Lawrence had completed and sold roughly 30 homes in the neighborhood previously, Harvey said. Kolter Land, whose business model is to buy land and supply lots to builders, is based in Florida but recently began diversifying to other Southern states, buying a Levitt active-adult community on Lake Lanier north of Atlanta a couple of months ago and recently closing on land in Charlotte, N.C. Raleigh’s home lot market has begun to heat up in recent months, drawing the large home builders to reinvest and escalating lot prices. With the state government, universities, and a technical and biomedical industry in place, Raleigh’s housing market held up longer and appears to be rebounding faster. “We think it’s a really good development market,” said Harvey. So good that the company is actually considering buying raw land “that we think actually makes good sense to develop,” he added. John Schlichenmaier, who started Westfield Homes in the Carolinas and served as Standard Pacific’s division president for the Carolinas after the acquisition of Westfield, is president of WinStar Homes. “Late in 2007, we started WinStar with the idea of catching the down market,” Schlichenmaier said. In addition to Schlichenmaier, WinStar has two other former Standard Pacific/Westfield veterans on its payroll–Cindy Morris is vice president of sales, and Martin Beam is director of construction and purchasing. “We were early,” Schlichenmaier said of the business start. Still, WinStar began building in Renaissance Park, a development near downtown Raleigh, winning some design awards in the process. And it kept looking for land deals. “We have a stable of experienced racehorses who are used to doing volume, so everybody is pretty excited” about the Brightwood Trails deal, he said. WinStar is hoping for more deals as well, with plenty of floor plans ready to go. “I will say that during that time [while waiting for land], we have done a lot of product design for opportunities that we thought we might do and then backed out of them. On the shelf we have got a lot of fresh product.” Schlichenmaier plans to focus on entry-level and first-time move-up buyers. “What we like to do is to give people a look and features that they don’t expect in the lower price points,” he said. WinStar, which closed about 30 houses last year, hopes to sell between 120 and 150 homes in 2012. The company faces some formidable competition from other national builders who have been investing heavily in the local lot market in the past few months, bidding up prices in some cases. “The lot situation has done a 180-degree turn,” said Schlichenmaier. “We have yet to see if the market will follow with actual buyers, but the national builders, everybody, got their million [dollars] from Obama, and they had to put it to work. And all the studies, Forbes and everybody else, there are two cities that keep popping up [as good places to live]. One of them is Austin, and the other one is Raleigh.”
